We Need Your Help!

As you know, Planned Parenthood of New York City will be, for the first time ever, providing services on Staten Island. The Staten Island Advance covered our expansion, calling our it a “Quantum Leap Forward” for women’s services.

We agree! And we want to make sure they know that the rest of New York does too. So will you help us show the support for women’s health by writing a letter to the editor of the Staten Island Advance?

We have some sample letters below, or please feel free to make up your own. You can also sign up to leave a comment at the end of the article.

It’s important that we show community support for women’s health, especially with general elections coming up on November 2. Let’s show the world that pro-choice New Yorkers are a force to be reckoned with.

Letters:

Letter 1:

Dear Editors:

The St. George and surrounding areas of Staten Island are among the most medically underserved in the city.
PPNYC will be filling a hole by providing much-needed health care services; such as birth control counseling and provision, emergency contraception, STD testing and treatment, GYN exams, cancer screenings, and male reproductive health exams; to everyone, regardless of their insurance status or personal circumstances. We should celebrate the center’s new opening as an important step towards making sure the men, women and teens of Staten Island are as healthy as they can be.

Sincerely

Letter 2:

Dear Editors:

It’s no secret that Staten Island is underserved when it comes to a whole range of health care services. As a young woman who grew up and lives on Staten Island, I welcome Planned Parenthood to the community.

Sincerely,

Letter 3:

Dear Editors:

I am a lifelong Staten Island resident, and couldn’t be happier to see Planned Parenthood coming to the community. Not only will they be providing services that are sorely needed on the Island, they will be doing it for everyone, regardless of whether or not they have health insurance. With so many residents struggling in this economy, what could be better than providing needed health care services that are affordable?

Sincerely,

Staten Island has continuously been underserved for healthcare services. As a Staten Island resident, I am happy to learn that these vital services from Planned Parenthood will be available to all our residents, regardless of whether or not they have health insurance.
